Bounding linear rainfall-runoff models with fractional derivatives applied to a barren catchment of the Jordan Rift Valley

چکیده

A new concept is developed to mathematically understand the dynamics of rainfall-runoff events in a barren catchment Jordan Rift Valley. Time series data rainfall and runoff have been acquired at an observation point catchment. Due extreme arid environment, water current as from ephemeral, are clearly distinguishable each other. Firstly, pair linear autoregressive models with exogenous input (ARX models) identified tightly bound time using simplex method programming. The part compatible conventional unit hydrograph method, while regarded discretized differential operator fractional orders. Then, equation determined approximate ARX model, which restricts perturbation actual causal relationship between intensity discharge. resulting lower upper bounding derivatives examined system-theoretic framework. Finally, nominal model nonlinear stochastic phenomena perturb arranged envelope all frequency domain, leading formulation challenging optimal control problem involving processes.

Performance of ten rainfall-runoff models applied to an arid catchment in Oman

When selecting a rainfall–runoff model for application to an arid region, the literature dictates the need to consider the spatial features of rainfall and the variability and non-linearity of losses, and to match model complexity to the availability and quality of data. In light of this, the metric-conceptual IHACRES model is applied to hourly data from a 734 km2 catchment in Oman, using a sem...

Development of a simple, catchment-scale, rainfall- evapotranspiration-runoff model

Representation of the hydrological interaction between the land surface and the atmosphere requires considerable improvement, particularly for predicting evapotranspiration feedbacks for use in models of the general circulation (GCMs) of the atmosphere. The predictive model developed here attempts to use a water balance approach that extracts information from the masses of catchment-scale time ...

Regionalisation of Rainfall-Runoff Models

A new approach to regionalisation for prediction of flow characteristics in ungauged catchments is presented. If flows in ungauged catchments are to be predicted using calibrated rainfall-runoff models, regional relationships between the parameters of such models and catchment attributes must be determined. This is only possible with parsimonious models (fewer than about 7 parameters), and even...

The geochemistry of groundwater resources in the Jordan Valley: The impact of the Rift Valley brines

The chemical composition of groundwater in the Jordan Valley, along the section between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea, is investigated in order to evaluate the origin of the groundwater resources and, in particular, to elucidate the role of deep brines on the chemical composition of the regional groundwater resources in the Jordan Valley. Samples were collected from shallow groundwater in...

Multivariate linear parametric models applied to daily rainfall time series

The aim of this paper is to test the Multivariate Linear Parametric Models applied to daily rainfall series. These simple models allow to generate synthetic series preserving both the time correlation (autocorrelation) and the space correlation (crosscorrelation). To have synthetic daily series, in such a way realistic and usable, it is necessary the application of a corrective procedure, remov...
